Romanian Journal of European Studies special issue, 2010 |
Romanian Journal of European Studies is an online journal
edited by Editura Universitatii de Vest, Timisoara (Romania). Purpose
of this special issue on migration is to look at the ongoing
transformations of the European migration system in relation to the
European integration processes involving South-Eastern Europe. The
RJES would especially welcome contributions related to the
above topics and the following themes: Theoretical questions related to
the European migration system and South-Eastern Europe; New and old
typologies of migration flows and their conceptualisation; The migration
patterns and integration processes of the CEE and SEE countries in
comparison; The EU external borders and migration through the SEE
region; Symmetries and asymmetries of the EU immigration policy with

We are currently inviting submissions for our next issue of the
University of Sussex Journal of Contemporary History. This is one of the
most established refereed online journals of contemporary historical
research designed for members of the post-graduate and early
post-doctoral community. The forthcoming issue will be open to any
article relating to modern or contemporary history. Our aim is to
publish articles featuring work that is original in approach and/or
subject matter. Submitted articles should be between 5,000 and 7,000

L'Europe en formation, summer 2010 issue |
The quarterly journal L'Europe en formation, founded in
1960, focuses on topics related to European Integration, International
and European politics, and Federalism. Articles are written either in
English or in French. For our Summer 2010 issue, we now accept
proposals for articles on "Federalism, Democracy and Europe". The topics
would cover: the state of research on federalism and regionalism in
Europe, including European Integration; the development of federal
features in the different European states, by studying individual
countries as well as by using comparative approaches; and the relation
between "federal-type" or consociative procedures, and democratic
patterns in Europe. Proposals (in English or French) should be
submitted by 15 July 2009, to europe.formation@cife.eu,
including: the title of the proposed article and a brief description
(500 words); and the CV of the author. Proposals will be submitted to
the members of the Academic Advisory Board of the journal. Once the
topic accepted, the article should be sent before 10 January, 2010, in
order to be published in the Summer 2010 issue. The length of the
articles should be between 4.000 and 10.000 words. |

In the framework of the topic "(Subjective) Security in Communist
States," the editors are looking for an article treating the relation
between "objective" security and the subjective sense of security as
manifest in the specific conditions of the Cold War. The article can
either focus on a single communist society or take a comparative
perspective. The editors are looking for an article written from the
perspective of social or cultural history or the history of mentalities.
Its argument should be pointedly formulated and may be based on a case
study. The article may be written in English or German. An abstract
(maximum: 300 words) should be sent before 10 April 2009. The accepted
paper (maximum: 45,000 characters) should be submitted by 30 November

"Legal, Political and Economic Initiatives Towards Europe of
Knowledge. 7th International". The aim of the conference is to present
the newest scientific research results on the aspects of legal,
political and economic initiatives towards Europe of knowledge as well
as to highlight the lessons and challenges of Lithuania (and other young
member states) in the context of five year being in the European Union.
Fee: 50 euros. Conference registration fee will cover: package for
participants, coffee breaks, lunch and reception dinner after the
conference, the publication of scientific article as well as a copy of
