15 June 2009 "Exhibiting Europe", NTNU Trondheim The Department of Foreign Languages at NTNU Trondheim has available 1 PhD position connected to the research project "Exhibiting Europe. The development of a European narrative in museums, collections and exhibitions" funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The project will run until September 2012. It seeks to understand how "Europe" and the EU are represented and constructed in European-level exhibitions and in selected museums throughout Europe. 15 July 2009 L'Europe en formation, summer 2010 issue The quarterly journal L'Europe en formation, founded in 1960, focuses on topics related to European Integration, International and European politics, and Federalism. Articles are written either in English or in French. For our Summer 2010 issue, we now accept proposals for articles on "Federalism, Democracy and Europe". The topics would cover: the state of research on federalism and regionalism in Europe, including European Integration; the development of federal features in the different European states, by studying individual countries as well as by using comparative approaches; and the relation between "federal-type" or consociative procedures, and democratic patterns in Europe. Proposals (in English or French) should be submitted by 15 July 2009, to europe.formation@cife.eu, including: the title of the proposed article and a brief description (500 words); and the CV of the author. Proposals will be submitted to the members of the Academic Advisory Board of the journal. Once the topic accepted, the article should be sent before 10 January, 2010, in order to be published in the Summer 2010 issue. The length of the articles should be between 4.000 and 10.000 words.

20 July 2009 Leipzig, 28 september-1 october 2009 In view of the 7th summer school "Remembrance in transnational and transcultural perspective", to be held at the University of Leipzig from September 28th to October 1st 2009, it is a pleasure to invite you to participate in the panel "Political History (Geschichtspolitik) of the European Union". The summer school intends to link two topics that have been attracting more and more attention in the recent past: remembrance as well as transnationality and transculturality. The aim of this conference is to take a fresh look at the 1989 revolutions in Central and Eastern Europe to mark the occasion of the twentieth anniversary in the autumn of 2009. The approach is broadly historical, but we would welcome proposals from a range of different disciplines, such as Cultural and Gender/Women's Studies, Sociology, Modern Languages and of course History.
